There is around an acre of level garden surrounding the house and Cottage with three lawns and plenty of accessible parking space. For guests’ use, there is a large trampoline with netting sides, swings, a sandpit and an authentic albeit stationary tractor for climbing on.
There is an orchard below the Cottage deck, in which two Grey faced Dartmoor sheep reside – they are always happy to accept any leftovers through the railings!
The garden leads through a gate into our field in which we keep around 15 Shetland sheep. The majority of these have been hand reared so are pretty friendly, especially to children. Beyond this field a gate leads to ‘Snails Bottom’ – a beautiful valley with a shallow stream that children can paddle in and along which you can walk for as long as you can manage.
Anthony runs a marquee business from the barn at the end of the garden – arrivals and departures tend to be early in the morning or late in the day during the summer months, and there’s always a lorry, van or trailer to look at!
Flapjack and Pippa are both collie-cross rescues dogs, and have perfect temperaments for both dog loving [both love lots of attention] and dog haters [“Caitlin has always been terrified of dogs but now she is sad to leave Pippa”].
Badger the cat sadly only has three legs after an accident but loves being stroked.
